Weird all right. My (half) brother Jeff told me that our father Jimmy Wright was there working as an Andy Frain usher, just having gotten back from WWII, when Phil Wrigley demanded that the goat be thrown out. Dad tried to reason with Wrigley but he was adamant, according to Jeff’s retelling. Jimmy Wright had the weekly privilege of seating Al Capone and his guys on Sundays. Scarface tipped my dad generously, 5 bucks I heard.

My mother was a hostess at a gambling speakeasy and Capone’s men once cheated and busted the joint. My mother was terrified she’d lose her job but ‘the boys’ returned the money. “We was just jokin’ around, here you go”. They liked my dad, he paid his gambling debts promptly and they tipped their hats to my mother, pretty chilling to think about now. Fuggedaboutit! Family and respect.

Dennis Farina, this guy, remember him? was a friend of my dad’s. A cop turned actor, he had a few good movies, my favorite was ‘Get Shorty’.
